Dr. Courtney Knott

Owner and Veterinarian

Dr. Courtney Knott grew up in Missouri Valley, Iowa, with her sister Kelly, her parents Art & Vicki, a cat named Herb, and a German Shorthair named Ike. From an early age, she loved animals and nature and excelled in Math and Science in school. After high school, Dr. Knott went on to earn a Math degree from Iowa State University, graduating in 1999. She taught high school math at Davis County High School in south-central Iowa for two years, decided to switch careers, and was hired as an Actuary at EMC Insurance in Des Moines. Although actuarial science is a great career, Dr. Knott decided after four years that she didn't love the "cubical setting" of the insurance industry and wanted to chase her childhood dream of becoming a Veterinarian.

In the fall of 2005, Dr. Knott entered Vet School at Iowa State University and graduated in 2009. She initially worked at a mixed animal veterinary practice in Centerville, Iowa until moving home to Omaha in 2012. From 2012-2013, Dr. Knott worked the overnight shift at the Animal Emergency Clinic, honing her emergency surgery skills as well as getting to know the Omaha community. Starting in 2013, she moved back to daytime veterinary practice and has been enjoying working with animals and pet owners ever since.

On June 1, 2023, Dr. Knott realized her dream of owning a veterinary hospital when she purchased Omaha Animal Medical Group. Her favorite aspect of the job is getting to meet and work with all different types of dogs and cats, and their parents. Her goal is to help every pet she works with maintain the highest quality of life possible.

Dr. Knott has been married to Jim for 21 years and has two children, Jackson (13) and Kendall (10). She also is the parent of two "very tired" cats, Garfield & Odie. In her free time, she enjoys watersports with her family, traveling, hosting and meeting with friends, and attending Iowa State University sporting events.

Dr. Jay Jesske

Veterinarian

Jay grew up on a farm in Blue Hill, Nebraska with a wide variety of domesticated and wild animals. His childhood experiences on the farm led him to know early on that he wanted to become a veterinarian. After high school, Jay earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska and went on to Veterinary Medical School at Iowa State University, graduating in 1988. Dr. Jesske started his career in Leavenworth, Kansas working at the Dog and Cat Clinic from 1989-1993. In 1994, he moved back to Nebraska and has practiced in the Omaha area for the last thirty years.

Dr. Jesske joined the team at Omaha Animal Medical Group in January of 2024. He has been a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Nebraska Academy of Veterinary Medicine (NAVM) for the last thirty years. Jay finds the personal relationships he has built with his clients and their pets to be the most rewarding part of his career.

Dr. Jesske is married to Tammy and they have four daughters; Rachel (Ben), Hanna, Leah, and Grace. They live with a Goldendoodle named Kona and two French Bulldog puppies named Frankie and Freddie. In their free time, Jay and Tammy enjoy watching their daughter’s activities and following Husker sporting events.

Christy Laing

Head Receptionist

While growing up in Omaha, Christy always had a dream of tending to pets in a veterinary hospital setting. Throughout high school and early adulthood, she worked exclusively in the customer service field. However, for the last 20+ years, Christy has been able to reconnect with her childhood love of animals by serving pets and animal owners at Omaha Animal Medical Group. Her favorite part of the job is interacting directly with animals and their owners, while also handing out tasty treats (mainly to the pets but occasionally to an owner!)

Outside of work, Christy enjoys bicycling, home improvement, and organizing things around the house. She and her husband own Third Nail Creations, a small business that makes custom metal artwork and figurines. For Christy, the business is a great way to get her creative juices flowing!

Kristy and her family live with four dogs; Kona, Cheyanne, Coloqhoun, and Cassidy, as well as a cockatiel named Frankie. Frankie's main duty at home is "yelling" at the dogs when they get too close to his cage.

Kimberly Kubes

Veterinary Technician

Kimberly grew up in Omaha with her parents and two sisters. She can't remember a single moment when she didn't want to do everything in her power to help all creatures, great and small. This childhood love of animals is what led her to work at Omaha Animal Medical Group. Kim completed her undergraduate Biology Degree at Newman College in Wichita and her Veterinary Technician Program at Animal Behavior College in California. After earning her veterinary credentials, she decided to launch her career in private veterinary practice. She is a Veterinary Technician and has been working at OAMG for 4 years. Her favorite part of the job is getting to meet and work with all types of pets (and owners). She loves the fact that no two days are ever the same.

When Kim is not tending to animals at OAMG, she enjoys reading good books, cooking, camping, and playing video games. She shares her life with two dogs, Jasper, a cuddly Beagle, and Cooper, a Labrador who is convinced he is still small enough to be a lap dog!

Carrie Cavender

Veterinary Technician

Carrie grew up on a small farm near Marion, Michigan. During her childhood on the farm, she had ample opportunities to interact and care for animals. This experience, coupled with her interest in science, ignited her desire to one day work in the veterinary field. She went on to receive her veterinary Technician credentials at Maplewoods Community College in Kansas City. As a Veterinary Technician at Omaha Animal Medical Group, Carrie loves being able to make a difference in the lives of pets and pet owners through loving care and education.

Professionally, Carrie enjoys performing treatments, diagnostics, "pre" and "post" procedural care, and patient follow-ups. She also has a special interest in animal dentistry and client education. However, her favorite part of the job is still the kisses and snuggles she gets on a daily basis from her patients. She has been an integral part of the OAMG team since 2020.

Carrie and her husband Lyndy have been married since 1993. Their son Avery studied carpentry technology and is currently working in the field. They also have a dog Zeke, who is the family protector and Carrie's personal stalker. In her spare time, Carrie loves being outdoors, camping, gardening, crafting, and scrapbooking.

John Henn

Veterinary Technician

John is a dedicated and highly skilled Veterinary Technician who has been practicing in the Omaha area for 15 years; and at Omaha Animal Medical Group since Dr. Knott’s acquisition of the hospital in June of 2023. While growing up locally, John developed a profound love of all animals. He has not only been able to turn that passion into a career, but has also become a trusted companion for countless fur babies and their owners. Known for his ability to make people laugh, John can often be found moving quickly around the clinic, ensuring a positive and lively atmosphere for both the staff and the clients.

John’s personal experience and commitment to animal care extends far beyond the workplace. At home, John is surrounded by a menagerie of animals, including 1 dog, 2 cats, 14 birds, 6 Butterfly Koi (fish), and 1 horse. He loves the daily interaction with animals both at home and at work and truly has a genuine devotion to the needs and well-being of all creatures.

When John isn't tending to furry patients, you can find him exploring the great outdoors, enjoying nature's beauty, or spending quality time with his beloved pets.

Lexi Olson

Veterinary Technician

Lexi Olson was born in Hong Kong, China and moved several times while growing up. As a child, Lexi developed a great love for all animals and decided that she wanted to eventually work in the veterinary medicine field. She graduated from high school in Hemingford, Nebraska and went on to earn an Associate's Degree as a Licensed Veterinary Technician from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

After college, Lexi worked at three different Omaha Veterinary Clinics before finding a home at Omaha Animal Medical Group In July of 2023. Lexi believes her gentleness, compassion, and patience are her greatest strengths and she strives daily to be a helpful and reliable member of a great veterinary team. Her most memorable moment as an LVT was successfully placing an IV catheter in a two-pound kitten. Lexi's favorite part of working at OAMG is seeing sick pets get better, and then come back in for their annual visits as healthy, happy cats and dogs.

Lexi is engaged to Jordan and has one cat named Izzy. She loves growing house plants and currently has over 60 in her home.

Christina Stolp

Veterinary Technician

Christina was born in Tongling, China, and adopted by her parents at the age of one. She grew up in Omaha always knowing she wanted to eventually work in a career where she could help and care for animals. While at Mercy High School, she started a pet-sitting business that is still going today. Christina loves pet sitting because it has allowed her to get to know and become friends with both clients and pets alike. After graduating from Mercy High School in 2011, Christina worked full time at a pet boarding facility in Omaha for two years. She believes this experience helped prepare her to work in the veterinary field. Over the last eight years of working in daytime vet practice, Christina gained valuable experience as a Vet Assistant, Boarding Manager, and Vet Receptionist. She joined the team at Omaha Animal Medical Group in August of 2023.

According to Christina, the greatest personal traits she brings to OAMG are her work ethic, organizational skills, and care and concern for all animals. Her favorite part of the job is seeing a wide variety of different types of medical cases, from annual exams to urgent care appointments. Christina also loves meeting new clients and giving their pets treats, hugs, and kisses. Because Christina describes herself as “painfully shy” in her younger years, she is most proud of how her Vet Assistant career has helped her develop confidence in her abilities.

Outside of working at Omaha Animal Medical Group and pet sitting, Christina enjoys reading, relaxing, watching Netflix shows, and going for walks. She lives with a 10-year-old Bichpoo (Bichon/Poodle mix) named Buddy.
