Nathan
Veterinary Assistant
Nathan grew up in the small town of Clatskanie, Oregon, where he was constantly spending time in the great outdoors. He bonded closely with his childhood dogs, and that started a love affair with the world of animal care that hasn’t let up to this day. In high school, he took every animal- and biology-related course he could find, only further cementing his desire to help the earth’s creatures. Now, Nathan gets to do just that—he’s a Veterinary Assistant and helps pets on a daily basis!
Nathan attended Oregon State University to earn his Bachelor’s degree in zoology, and stayed in the area to work at the local Humane Society, where he would help pets for the next four and a half years. When the time came to make a change, he and his wife moved to Omaha, and he decided to continue his journey in animal medicine. Nathan joined the Omaha Animal Medical Group family in December of 2019 as a Veterinary Assistant and hasn’t looked back since!
One of Nathan’s favorite parts of his job is helping new pet owners understand all aspects of owning an animal companion, from parasite preventatives and vaccination to crate training and socialization. He also loves to use his skills in low-stress handling and finds it incredibly rewarding to make an otherwise scary veterinary visit comfortable for a patient.
Outside of work, Nathan likes reading, playing video games, constructing habitats for small animals and plants, and spending quality time with his family. Along with his wife, Kimberly, he shares his home with two cats named Haiku and Sonnet as well as two loveable and smart Chihuahuas named Rye and Penny. They also frequently have foster dogs at home because of their work with several organizations in the area.
