Did you know that there’s a special pet holiday coming up? March 3rd is If Pets Had Thumbs Day! It’s probably safe to say that if our furry pals suddenly grew opposable thumbs, they’d get into all sorts of shenanigans. Here, a local Bennington, NE vet offers some cute suggestions on what Fido and Fluffy may do with thumbs.
We suspect that one of the first things your four-legged buddies would do with thumbs is let themselves out. Fido may head for the nearest doggy park, or go visit that cute poodle down the road. Fluffy, on the other hand, would probably immediately let herself back in. And then out again.
No can or package would be safe from those prying paws and noses! Fluffy and Fido may very well open every container of food in the house, and make a huge—and rather messy—buffet out of it. Your furball may also remove all the labels from any cans that remained unopened, just because, well, that’s something a cat with thumbs would do.
If your pets grew thumbs, they may immediately grab your car keys. Fido might want to take himself for a drive around the block. (Or, possibly, around the state.) Fluffy, however, would probably throw the keys away, just so she didn’t have to take any more car rides.
Although our canine and feline friends can get along—and can sometimes become the best of friends—dogs and cats have always been a bit competitive. We wouldn’t be terribly surprised if Fido locked Fluffy out, or vice versa.
If your pets had thumbs, they may be able to get the gist of ordering things online. You might come home to find your doorstep overflowing with packages of pet toys and furniture, doggy treats, comfy beds, and, of course, pizza. Fido may also subscribe to a steak-of-the-month club, while Fluffy may send away for some live fish.
Cats and dogs can definitely take some adorable photos. You may very well find your camera or phone gallery full of candid, blurry shots of paws and tails!
