If there’s one thing we know for certain about cats, it’s that they take their beauty rest seriously. Fluffy sleeps 14-16 hours a day, on average, but she can sleep up to 20 hours a day! Our sleepy feline friends really love having lots of comfy spots to choose from. While your drowsy pet won’t mind borrowing your bed or sofa, she’ll also enjoy some things that were made specifically to fit her. Read on as an Omaha, NE vet suggests some simple DIY cat beds.
A wicker basket can make a really cute—and easy—bed for Fluffy. Just add some soft pillows or blankets, and tell your pet not to use it!
Take an old, clean suitcase or hatbox, and add paint or varnish to make it look nice. Then, add pillows or blankets, or even a store-bought pet bed. Prop it so it won’t close on your feline pal.
Who says cats have expensive tastes? Fluffy may be quite thrilled with a cardboard box or a storage tote that has soft blankets or pillows in it!
To turn an old sweater into a kitty bed, start by sewing the wrists closed. Next, fill the sleeves with pet-safe stuffing. Then, sew the torso closed, in the shape of an oval, and attach the sleeves to it. Finally, use the neck hole to finish stuffing it, and sew that closed as well.
This one is great for summer, as it will naturally stay cool. You’ll need a coffee table or end table with four legs, and a piece of material. Cut the material so that it’s a little smaller than the tabletop, and then attach the corners to the furniture legs. Done!
An old dresser drawer can make a great kitty bed! As with the other options, use paint or stencils to dress it up, and then add some soft bedding.
Get an old end table with doors, and remove the doors. Add paint or varnish, and put a bed inside, or some cozy blankets. Presto!
